"Yeshua" or "Yeshu"? (I'm hoping that Dan, as a native speaker, will chime in)
Here's an interesting article about using Yeshua vs. Yeshu: LINK.
One is clearly a name, and the other is clearly an acronym. Those that adhere to the acronym almost always do so for reasons other than a desire to be accurate. I am rarely suprised by those that insist on using the acronym - I cannot read their mind, but their schtick is well-known by now.
Good article. Accurate, but too long.
ReplyDeleteInteresting sidenote: A year or two ago, Boaz Michael told me that he was quite certain Jesus' name is really Yeshu.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, you have Hebrew linguists like Dr. Michael Brown who say the matter is certain: Jesus' Hebrew name is Yeshua.
