So tonight I'll be going to see Paul Wilbur at Grove Ave. Baptist Church. I don't really know much about him except that I gather he is a Messianic non-Jew (?). In any event, I think it's a wonderful bridge-building opportunity to have Messianic singers give concerts at churches.
Here's the promo-video for tonight's event at Grove:

Paul Wilbur is Jewish, as are all the other members of the former Israel's Hope band: Rene Block and Marc Chopinsky. I knew them in Maryland prior to the group being formed, but I left the area before they made their first tape.
ReplyDeleteWhy would it matter?
DeleteI just mentioned that because the author thought Wilber wasn't Jewish; just a polite correction. :)
DeleteYeah, Paul was raised Reform Jewish. He has classical training in music, as well.
ReplyDeleteI would describe his Messianic viewpoint as Jewish Christian. He has made some marvelous music for the Lord. I particularly like his stuff from Israel's Hope, which you can sample here: messianicradio.com/israel's hope.
Re: "He has made some marvelous music for the Lord."
DeleteAgreed!
