Derek Leman Says Traditional Jews Have "Parallel Outpouring of the Spirit"

People have recently criticized me for supporting those in the One Law camp who are attempting to seek representation from within UMJC synagogues.

Today I learned yet another reason why I support the One Law "insurgency":

There is an open fight in the UMJC over fundamental tenets of the faith such as whether Yeshua is even necessary for salvation.

A few days ago, Derek Leman, on his blog, said the following in the comments section:

"Phil:
I do not agree that mainstream Jews are apostates. I think that is far too strong. In fact, I’ll go one step further, I believe a parallel outpouring of the Spirit has happened among traditional Jews, not unlike the one happening to the congregation of Messiah. Isaiah 59:21, “And as for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the LORD: “My Spirit that is upon you, and my words that I have put in your mouth, shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouth of your offspring, or out of the mouth of your children’s offspring,” says the LORD, “from this time forth and forevermore.””

The Prophets tells us that the blessing of the New Covenant is the outpouring of the Spirit and the forgiveness of sins.  The Apostolic Writings tells us that these blessings have only begun to be realized through the New Covenant in Yeshua's blood.

Yet Leman is preaching that the Gift of the Ruach is available to non-Believers.  How can his writing be interpreted in any other way than conveying the message that belief in Yeshua is unnecessary?

This is completely unacceptable.

Allow me to now say something unpopular:

It doesn't matter if your father is Moses himself;  the only hope for salvation is in Yeshua!

  1. I remember 5 years ago, Judah Himango warning about this very issue, and I have heard of others as well. The "BE" crowd, have been heading this direction for a while, because they are trying to merge their form of Judaism into modern Judaism. The only way this can happen, is if Yeshua is more and more devalued, both in terms of authority and purpose, to eventually being thrown under the bus.

Paul is zealously concerned about his brethren according to the flesh (the Jews), so much so, that he wants himself to be accursed for their salvation, I don't see the same type of zeal for the Gospel being upheld in the "BE" groups, instead there seems to be ways around it, as if it is just not that big of a deal. Paul must have not got the memo, because he was extremely concerned.

All that said, I do believe God is with His people and will never forsake them, even in their failures, because if He does, then my faith is worthless, so I hope He never does... That being said, this does not mean they do not need Yeshua or that they are benefiting from him indirectly, nonsense. As Paul says, "Now if their transgression is riches for the world and their failure is riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their fulfillment be!" It will result in the resurrection, they must come to know him, the sooner the better. :D

Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel, but it certainly seems like some are.

  2. Judah's analysis about the BE crowd was prescient.

And excellent breakdown of the issue as always Zion. I'm very thankful for you.
