Shalom and welcome to my Messianic Judaism discussion blog! I want this to be THE place where Messianics can come together and discuss what's on their heart. Spread the word about this blog and let's all work together to bring unity to the Body! Shalom!
My difficulty with this brother's argument is that it is too simplistic. He throws the baby out with the bath water so to speak. He cites verses that seem to indicate that the Law has been "abrogated" but fails to cite the many times it is either confirmed in its entirety or in some part. The principles of "maleh" are critical in this ongoing debate. Which parts of the Sinaitic Law are maleh and which are not? This must be done in a systematic way, using proper hermeneutics. I have found the study and presentation of our principles of maleh to have cleared up 99% of the confusion on this issue for our congregation.
Could you help me understand Paul's different uses of "law"? For example, the law of sin and death, etc. I'm thinking particularly about Romans 2... perhaps you know of some articles I could read? This is an area that I need to understand better.
I've found my notes, but that's all they are at this point. Until I put them together in some sensible fashion, you might consider reading through the following article: http://www.hoshanarabbah.org/pdfs/paul_vw.pdf
I'm not saying that I agree with everything in the paper but there are a lot of valuable points.

Let me think about that. I seem to recall having studied that years ago. Let me see if I can put my hands on those notes. Hmm...where did I put those?
ReplyDeleteSometimes being studious and a pack rat of information but also being absent-minded stinks!
